Eidolon Shards are directly connected to the big beings found on the Plains of Eidolon.
These rare components have various uses, although they are mostly used later on to get focus which empowers the operator and helps them with missions. That is true of all but the standard Eidolon Shard.
Go to the Plains of Eidolon during the night to look for Eidolon Shards and defeat the world bosses. Maybe begin with defeating and capturing the Teralyst.
This lets you continue or else, if you have got a Brilliant Eidolon Shard for capturing the Teralyst, you can face the Gantulyst.
Take out the Gantulyst and you can then summon and face the Hydrolyst, as long as the Teralyst is captured and you got a Radiant Eidolon Shard.
Repeat the capture of all these bosses to farm Eidolon Shards. The quicker you can defeat and capture them, the quicker you will be able to farm Eidolon Shards.
Consider two runs for a good session. Sometimes though, you will need to bring a squad or at least one powerful build.
Where To Farm Eidolon Shards in Warframe?
Only the Plains of Eidolon has this resource, because this is where you fight the world bosses. You will be most likely to encounter the Teralyst walking around the plains at night.
The Gantulyst and the Hydrolyst arrive in order and have to be summoned by the Eidolon Shrine. You can find this in the center of Gara Toht Lake.
In order to put shards in the shrine for summing the next boss, you will need to pick up Eidolon Shards which a Teralyst has dropped.
Different Eidolon Shard Types
There are currently 4 different types of Eidolon Shard in Warframe.
#1 Eidolon Shard (classic)
This is the standard type and the first you are going to find in Warframe. This will drop from the Teralyst who is the first boss.
You need the Eidolon Shard to exchange for focus, as well as to craft the Paracesis Melee weapon.
You can get it by capturing or killing the different world bosses in the Plains of Eidolon.
This is how many Eidolon Shard each enemy boss will drop if killed or captured in the Plains of Eidolon:
- Teralyst: 1
- Gantulyst: 3
- Hydroyst: 5
#2 Brilliant Eidolon Shard
This is more valuable and rarer than the Eidolon Shard which you can use to unbind way-bound operator nodes. You can unlock and upgrade these using focus.
However, if you also use Brilliant Eidolon Shards, you can make the way-bound nodes get other schools to use the unbound ones.
Way-bound nodes are those different schools can share.
You can exchange the Brilliant Eidolon Shard for 25,000 focus. These shards re also needed if you want to go to the Eidolon Shrine and summon the Gantulyst.
Capturing the various world bosses with Eidolon Lures, you will get this many Brilliant Eidolon Shards:
- Eidolon Teralyst: 1
- Eidolon Gantulyst: 1
- Eidolon Hydrolyst: 2
#3 Radiant Eidolon Shard
These are the most valuable Warframe shields. You can only get them by beating the strongest world bosses. Exchange them for 40,000 focus.
Use these shards at the Eidolon Shrine to summon the Eidolon Hydrolyst.
This is how many Radiant Eidolon Shards you need to do so:
- Eidolon Gantulyst – 1 Radiant Eidolon Shard
- Eidolon Hydrolyst – 2 Radiant Eidolon Shards
#4 Synthetic Eidolon Shards
These aren’t connected with Hydrolyst, Gantulyst or Teralyst, but are more like a bonus. They are less valuable versions of the classic Eidolon Shards.
You can convert them into 5,000 focus to upgrade your operator school. Get them for doing the Sanctuary Onslaught mission. You might get them as a Rotation B reward.
Conclusion
You will find Eidolon Shards to be vital during the late game in Warframe. They are used mainly to upgrade operators by exchanging them for focus.
You farm them by defeating the three world bosses found in the Plains of Eidolon, and then repeating it.
Not a lot of players can do this solo, although some do come up with tactics to do it.
Try to join a squad if possible, because capturing the bosses is better than just killing them. It gives you more Eidolon Shards if you capture them.
